Corbulas wall art
Design Pierluigi Piu
A collection of wall art inspired by traditional Sardinian baskets, the "corbulas", historically used to contain flour or bread, which women carried balanced on their heads. These creations were originally born from the intertwining of hay stalks and rush fibres, enriched with inserts in brocade and brightly colored woolen cloth, creating decorations with simple geometries or inspired by local flora and fauna.
Often, in farmers' homes, these baskets were hung on the walls in groups, to adorn the house.
This function was taken up in creating a one-of-a-kind decorative marble object, which reproduces the richest part of the baskets, i.e. the bottom, with the addition of a suggestive halo of light.
